“My advice to anyone coming for rehab at Vierra: Don’t give up. Trust the process and the amazing team here!”

I was admitted to Vierra Falls Church from Virginia Hospital Center after passing out while standing in my driveway, which resulted in a fracture and shattered left hip.

From the moment I arrived, the staff at Vierra have been exceptional. The therapy team, especially Paul and Archie, have been wonderful, compassionate, and incredibly encouraging. During my first week, I was unable to do anything on my own. With their consistent support and motivation, I gradually improved, and by the second week, I was able to stand again.

Today, I’ve regained about 65–70% of my independence and can now use both my walker and wheelchair. I’m truly impressed and grateful for the outstanding care, professionalism, and dedication shown by everyone at Vierra.

– Paul Brewster

“Vierra has been a great experience. She is walking on her own at 98, what else can we ask for?”

– Ms. Cantrell’s Daughter

Meet our remarkable 98-year-old patient who came to Vierra at Falls Church after a tough hospital stay—two recent falls, a fractured rib, and a pneumothorax.

With a medical history that includes ovarian, bladder, and breast cancer, coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease, and more—she’s truly a survivor in every sense of the word.

She arrived with significant mobility challenges, but through personalized therapy, ongoing encouragement, and her own fierce determination, she made incredible progress.

Today, she’s walking independently and heading home.

We’re so proud of the strength and spirit she showed throughout her stay—and we’re grateful to witness this amazing milestone.

I FEEL SO FORTUNATE TO CALL VIERRA FALLS CHURCH MY HOME!

From the moment I arrived—from Reston Hospital for rehab—I knew this was a special place. The staff here are incredibly warm, friendly, and caring. I especially appreciate the nursing team for their dedication and the activity staff for keeping me engaged, entertained, and always smiling. Their support makes each day feel joyful and meaningful.

I love staying active and challenging myself. One of my proudest moments was winning the Vierra Spelling Bee Championship! You can often find me winning bingo, curled up with a good book, or listening to my favorite artist, John Denver.

Family is also very important to me. I am a proud mother of three and grandmother to nine wonderful grandchildren and being able to share my stories and experiences with them brings me great joy.

Vierra truly feels like home to me. I am so grateful for the happy faces I see every day, the care I receive, and the vibrant community that surrounds me. Living here has enriched my life in so many ways, and I can honestly say I love calling Vierra Falls Church my home!

“My advice to anyone coming to Vierra for rehab: Always do your best and follow the staff’s advice—because they truly care!”

I was admitted to Vierra Falls Church from Inova Fair Oaks after having a difficult experience at another facility. My daughter toured Vierra and decided it was the best place for me — especially since I had started to lose hope.

After a couple of weeks at vierra, I was readmitted to the hospital but later returned to Vierra to continue my rehabilitation. My stay at Vierra has been nothing but a great experience. From the nursing staff to the rehab, activities, and housekeeping teams — everyone played a vital role in my recovery.

Therapy made me stronger every day and motivated me to keep pushing forward. The therapists encouraged me even when I felt afraid to walk or stand again. Their kindness, patience, and support helped me regain my confidence. Before discharge, I was able to use a walker and transfer in and out of my wheelchair independently.

All the staff at Vierra have been amazing and encouraging — from my nurse Mohamed, to my aide Bridget (who I looked forward to seeing every day), to my therapist Doris, and everyone else who contributed to my care.

Today, I’m happy to be going home stronger and better than when I arrived.

– Teresa Palacios

“My advice to others is to attend every session and give it your best.”

“I was admitted to Vierra from Inova Alexandria Hospital after being diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, which was affecting my nerves. Upon admission, my condition worsened, but the staff quickly assessed me and arranged for readmission to the hospital. Thanks to their timely action, the hospital was able to address the issue, and I returned to Vierra, where everything went wonderfully!

PT, OT, and speech therapy were all excellent. Paul in therapy helped me improve my balance and regain my strength. I looked forward to seeing him every day. My speech therapist, Dyral, was fantastic; she had a great sense of humor and made every session enjoyable. I eagerly anticipated each session.

Thank you, Vierra, for everything!”

– Carol Jane McNabney
